Prior to beginning your time at the Dugoni School, there are several health clearance requirements that need to be completed. You will be entering a health care profession that includes the responsibility to protect the health of your patients. It is also important to ensure you are protected from infectious diseases. Vaccinations are required as a condition of matriculation. Please consult with your primary health care provider to ensure you have the vaccinations listed in the medical examination packet. You will be required to provide proof of immunization or naturally-acquired immunity to these vaccine-preventable diseases prior to matriculation into the program.
Student Health Services is located on the 5th floor, Suite 513. Our nurse practitioner (NP) provides primary care services for the treatment of minor illnesses and injuries, routine physicals, immunizations, referrals, medication management and women's care. For more details, see the services page. The NP is available to all students, whether enrolled in the student insurance or a private plan. The health services fee for 2019-2020 is $124.00 per quarter ($496 per year). It will be assessed to each student account, which waives the office visit co-payment for all students. Lab tests, medications, procedures and immunizations are available for an additional charge.

Telemedicine — We have partnered with Anthem Blue Cross and LiveHealth Online to offer Telehealth services for all Pacific students. You can use LiveHealth Online to visit with a board-certified doctor, psychiatrist or licensed therapist when it fits into your schedule. Doctors are available 24/7, psychiatrists and therapists are ready to see you by appointment seven days a week. It's the most convenient way to get the care you need when you need it. Download the LiveHealth app in the App Store or on Google Play.
Nurse Advice — After hours or on weekends, you can call the Nurse Advice Line at 209.946.2315 option 4. Tell the Advice Nurse about your health problem. The Advice Nurse can help you decide if you need to see your doctor, or if your situation needs urgent-care or emergency treatment. You can also find out ways to possibly treat your problem at home. Our staff will receive a fax that tells us information about your call so we can follow-up the next business day. All students: $0 cost.
In an effort to ensure you meet your academic goals, Pacific mandates that you maintain active health insurance. The University provides a Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) with Anthem Blue Cross of CA. For the list of the SHIP benefits, see the Anthem Benefits Summary. The SHIP fee for the 2019-2020 academic year is $835.50 per quarter ($3,342 per academic year). Insurance premiums are assessed with tuition and other fees. Coverage is for students only. Dependents are not covered. For options outside of Pacific, look at eHealthInsurance and Covered California. If you're outside of California after graduation, check out healthcare.gov.
Dental and vision are not included in SHIP. Pacific offers Wellness Discounts and Voluntary plans. Learn more at this link about your options.
University of the Pacific SHIP medical and dental identification cards are available online. To request for a physical card, call Anthem directly at 800.888.2108.
Go to www.gallagherstudent.com/uop and enter your PacificNet username and password. Go to "Account Home" to view and print a verification letter that contains your Anthem member id.
If you have moved but did not update your mailing address, any mailings you receive from Anthem Blue Cross will be sent to the "Mailing/Current Address" on file. To verify or change your address, log in to your account at www.gallagherstudent.com/uop. When you register an Anthem online account, you have access to all the features listed below that will make your life easier.

Students electing not to participate in this plan will have the option to opt out by providing a waiver and proof of comparable health insurance coverage. Students who complete a waiver application by the waiver deadline date are not guaranteed to be approved and need to check their Pacific e-mail for any denials or follow-up questions. If your waiver is denied or incomplete, you will automatically be enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP). When selecting care on or off-campus, it is your responsibility to always choose the hospital, pharmacy or lab that is "in-network" for your health plan to reduce costs. Please note this is not an endorsement of any facility.
